Artist Statement: This show literally had to fit in our truck as we traveled up from Boulder, CO to Jackson. My big paintings were not going to work, so I found myself in my studio making small, intimate panel paintings. The smaller size invoked the desire to do mixed media work. I also found myself wanting to blend my intuitive painting style with examination of the identities that we show to the outside world and the ones that we keep privately close. The work blends personal memories of mine and the identities that I have held throughout my life, with the idea that we are all often fragmented beings, our exterior shell not always aligning with our internal nature and feelings. ( Let me know if you need more than this)

Artist Bio: Alissa Davies started making art when she was in preschool, guided by her Waldorf education, and the creative process has been woven into her life ever since. Growing up in Maine, she was fortunate to have artistic and supporting parents and went on to graduate from Smith College with a degree in Studio Art, focus in painting. She spent an informative junior year at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she was required to take a 3D Class. It was one of her favorite art classes that year and influences her work today. Alissa lived in Jackson, WY for 14 years before moving to Boulder, CO this past year. She finds great inspiration in parenting her two, young children and being connected to the outdoor world.
